AMPLIFYING WISCONSIN MUSICIANS WMPodcast interviews local Wisconsin musicians on their journey from their first group, solo endeavor, hired studio work, local community groups, and more, to their present day activities in the local music scene. We will also talk with music businesses and music organizations. We’ll talk about their origin story, what their influences are, what they do to hone their talents and their skills to be where they are today. What they feel is not only suffocating the local music scene, but, better yet, what they feel is helping push the local scene into the limelight. Also hear about gigs they’ve played that made an impression on them and why. . . and much more.

CDB and the Endtimes
Carson Bell, lead singer and songwriter of Carson D. Bell & The Endtimes, grew up in Madison and Milwaukee Wisconsin, and previously played in the Madison Wisconsin based Blues Punk band Meat Jelly and screamo band Posthuma with current and former members of another Madison based band Excuse Me Who Are You.
His new project CDB & The Endtimes is along the same lines as hisprevious bands that he has played in over their 12 years of experience with various Wisconsin punk bands, but in August of 2021, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee for work where he assembled his newest live band, featuring Alex Ralph, formerly of the Stevens Point bands Bear Down and Wisco Disco, and released their new EP "Redacting" on bandcamp. The EP is a blend of all the styles he enjoys, from 90's pop rock and shoegaze, to mid 2000's grindcore and post-hardcore. It was recorded partially in Milwaukee and features Wisconsin musicians Tyler Lebo and James Goodrich Ryan on bass and drums respectively.

Sam Boettcher of
BLAME IT ON CAIN
If you’ve found yourself poking around iTunes lately, you’ve probably bumped into a litany of highly-polished, over compressed, auto-tuned pop music. Boring. “What happened to Rock?”, you wonder. Happily, it’s right here ... in Beertown, USA.
Blame It On Cain.
Rock Done Right. The band released their debut album, ‘Rhythm Schism’ in 2008 and the album stretched beyond the usual boundaries of local radio and internet play. Their song, “Yesterday’s Happy” was released nationally on a compilation CD from Versailles Records. “Miami Beach” was the theme song for an animated web-series based on the east coast. And the band was invited on stage with Brian Vander Ark of the Verve Pipe, to sit in on a couple of acoustic numbers with the multi-platinum selling artist. A refreshed sound emerged and the band went back into the studio to record ‘Big Down Under’ in 2017. The album instantly received positive reviews from critics and fans, and the initial printing sold-out. With little down time, the band went back to writing and, in May 2019, released, ‘Amp Grease’. The album features eight newly recorded tunes and explores a number of different textures.
Their latest album - “Implied Maturity” - features 9 new, eclectic songs; from the
bluesy “Blush” to the reflective “Summerhill”, and from the gritty-drive of “Story Of Your Lies” to the delicate “Love, Not Change”. The album is a departure from previous releases, as this is the band’s first all-acoustic effort. It is available on iTunes, Amazon Music, Bandcamp, Pandora and other streaming services. The idea to do an all-acoustic album came after Cain played a set at an unplugged festival in Sturgeon Bay. The band then used the pandemic and lockdown to their advantage, by slowly writing and continually reworking the album until they were satisfied with the result.
Blame It On Cain is:
Sam Boettcher (vocals),
Steve Draganchuk (guitar)
Rich Seegert (drums)
Kevin Schwerdtfeger (bass).

Parker Sweeney of
SHOOBIE
Starting as a solo project in 2017, playing surf rock riffs and jamming on a drum kit stored in a closet in the bedroom of Parker’s first apartment, he would write songs between classes in college. After meeting at a birthday party Ethan and Parker would meet in Ethan’s basement writing and learning music together. After leaving his drum kit at Ethan’s, Parker decided to move in and they began the writing of their first EP “You Shoulda’ Been There” in 2018. At an art exhibition Shoobie was performing, Ethan and Parker met Leah who performed before them.
Leah approached Shoobie after the show and became the third addition to the group. Originally on bass Leah filled the gaps in the sound. After the release of the EP Parker met soon to be bass player Nick on campus. As Leah switched to lead guitar and Nick assumed his position at bass
the complete line up of Shoobie for the release of “A Strange Time To Be Alive” in 2019 and their first LP with the help of Isaac Lamers on a second drum kit “Gunk” in 2020 was complete. With the recent addition of synth/key player Nick M. Shoobie prepares for their next release coming in
2022.

Yung Bloom
Yung Bloom has been making music for almost 3 years now. I know I’m going to make it big with the art I create. I believe I will achieve anything I put my mind too! I will manifest my dreams and they will become my reality. It takes hard work and I always make sure to stay consistent. My YouTube channel is at nearly 3K subscribers and my channel as a whole has almost 300K views. I say this humbly and not in a narcissistic way. I’ve learned that consistency is key, and by doing that I’ve been improving not just in my art but in life as a whole. I have big plans for the future and I’m excited to answer anything you guys are interested in knowing.

The Silent Comedy
American Restless
Alley Eyes
Tickets: https://www.ticketweb.com/event/the-silent-comedy-with-american-shank-hall-tickets/12781795
THE SILENT COMEDY: Brothers Joshua and Jeremiah Zimmerman and their band The Silent Comedy know trouble. Facing that trouble head on permeates their work. Rough-hewn, expansive American rock & roll with dirt under its nails and whiskey on its breath, the music of The Silent Comedy channels the iron spine of the blues, Honky-Tonk sweat, and punk swagger into a euphoric declaration that when trouble rears its worrisome head it’s time to crack knuckles, lock arms, and lift our voices high.
The brothers spent their formative years traveling the world with missionary parents before settling in California. In search of catharsis, the teens found solace in songwriting and stage lights. The young band proved capable of raucous shows and word spread. Years of touring followed, performing with Dave Matthews Band, Queens of the Stone Age, Mumford and Sons, Arctic Monkeys, and Vampire Weekend, and festival plays at Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Under The Big Sky, Summer Meltdown and more.

AMERICAN RESTLESS:
Hard-scrabble, the music of American Restless channels the force of post-hardcore, the feral-energy of riff-heavy garage rock, and the swagger of rockabilly, earning the trio subgenre monikers like Spaghetti-Midwestern and Psych-A-Billy, but the group would simply describe their sounds as Rust Belt Rock and Roll.
Originally from Racine, WI, the band’s hometown is best known for its industrial legacy and stiff blue-collars. But it’s proximity to Milwaukee and Chicago made it rife with blues, metal, and DIY punk music, all of which shape the sonic DNA of the band. Though currently based in Michigan and Colorado, it is these very roots that endure to define the band.
With their debut album, Rust Belt Rock and Roll, guitarist Noah Lekas and bassist Ian Grant are joined by fellow Racine expat and former Reverend Horton Heat alumni, Arjuna “RJ” Contreras, marking the first time the three old friends converge on one LP. Due out May 2023, songs from the group’s forthcoming debut have already appeared on sports broadcasts like ESPN and UFC Fight Night, as well as in director Maxwell Frost’s latest adventure documentary, Lake Bike Hell.

ALLEY EYES:
Alley Eyes is a Milwaukee based garage rock band, where last call love songs meet indifferent odes to modernity, where seedy guitar riffs meet haunting synth lines, where desert psychedelic rock meets John Carpenter themes...
Alley Eyes has played everywhere from the Uline Stage at Summerfest '22 to a sold out Back Room at Colectivo, & all throughout the Wisconsin.
