Motivating musicians and audiences to experience inspiring performance environments by partnering with unlikely local destinations.
Wisconsin Music Ventures is a program that was founded in the summer of 2019 by Milwaukee area musician and private instructor Allison Schweitzer (Allison Emm is her business name). Her idea was to plan events that might be different, engaging and exciting for her private students and others to attend, being held at interesting – when possible outdoor – locations.
In planning these experiences for her private studio, she thought a) wouldn’t it be great to open some up to other students, and b) many of these “venues” would be amazing, scenic spots at which other local musicians could perform small-scale concerts.

Singer songwriter and master keyboardist/pianist Jack Spann has worked with some big names in the music business most notably David Bowie whom Spann spent time with working on what ultimately became Bowie’s Blackstar release. Aside from a sought-after musician in the studio and on stage, Spann has also logged time performing on Broadway including Hank Williams’ Lost Highway and War Horse, and performed at SXSW and Milwaukee’s Summerfest.
Spann’s original songs are soaked in blues, country and rock that are simultaneously thought provoking yet wildly entertaining. His new release “Propaganda Man” is now on most major platforms and physical release is July 26th, 2019. His 2017 release “Beautiful Man from Mars” is a tribute to his time spent with Bowie and was met with critical acclaim earning him a headlining spot at Summer Fest, the world’s largest music festival.
Known for his impossibly fast hands on the keyboard, Spann is a storytelling songsmith with a warm vocal tone that perfectly balances out the ferocious piano playing reminiscent of Fats Waller, Ray Charles and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Phat Phunktion, a group of University of Wisconsin-Madison music students formed in 1996, have built a loyal following of listeners throughout the United States and around the world. A nine-piece tour de force that combines the polish of top 40 with the smooth feeling of 60’s soul and the raw groove of 70’s funk, Phat Phunktion is today one of the most talked about bands in the Midwest. Their self-produced CDs have sold in the thousands, and their live shows sell-out virtually everywhere they perform. In their hometown of Madison, WI, they have been known to attract crowds of upwards of 5,000 people.
