AMPLIFYING WISCONSIN MUSICIANS WMPodcast interviews local Wisconsin musicians on their journey from their first group, solo endeavor, hired studio work, local community groups, and more, to their present day activities in the local music scene. We will also talk with music businesses and music organizations. We’ll talk about their origin story, what their influences are, what they do to hone their talents and their skills to be where they are today. What they feel is not only suffocating the local music scene, but, better yet, what they feel is helping push the local scene into the limelight. Also hear about gigs they’ve played that made an impression on them and why. . . and much more.

Craig Baumann, born and raised in Oconomowoc, WI in 1982, embarked on his musical journey early, learning guitar and drums by age 8 and performing gigs by age 12. His musical upbringing was steeped in blues, heavily influenced by his grandfather's vintage country music and the soulful grooves of Stax and Motown.
Throughout his career, Craig has embraced a philosophy that transcends genres, believing in music's power to tell stories and connect people beyond boundaries. This ethos drives his diverse musical projects, from performances with The People Brothers Band and Craig Baumann and The Story, to managing OutPost Music Store, a full-service family-owned music store in downtown Waukesha, WI. He also dedicates his efforts to the non-profit organization Jam for Jam.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Craig balances community leadership with artistic expression, exemplified by his roles in The Smokin’ Bandits, solo and duo performances, and the occasional appearance with Fat Maw Rooney. Look forward to Craig's upcoming projects, including a new Fat Maw Rooney album in the pipeline.
Explore Craig Baumann's multifaceted musical career and community contributions centered around OutPost Music Store on this insightful episode.

Red Head Trauma
Red Head Trauma (RHT) recently formed in July 2018, is an original hard rock trio infused with multiple genres creating a unique blend of power chord riffs and eclectic melodic leads. RHT is led by their talented guitar player / frontman John Witschel and backed by a powerhouse of bass and drums, including Green Bay Preble classmate and close friend of John Witschel, bassist Alex Staab, and their recently acquired drummer Brian Dovorany, who found the two musicians by responding to an ad placed at Kavarna, a popular coffee shop in downtown Green Bay.
All Three members have had stage experience and have already managed to write over a dozen original songs together as well as playing a handful of covers adding some familiarity and depth to their live show experience.
Although the band is recently formed they have already hit the open jam scene locally in Green Bay gaining support from local artist. The Band’s goals are to develop a local fan base through playing as many live shows as possible while producing a studio recording of their original material for fans to eventually take with them and share.

Elvis tribute artist from Appleton advocates for performers with autism and LGBTQ+ community
A local Elvis Presley tribute artist with autism wants to inspire others to chase their dreams with his performances.
Aaron Smith, 26, of Grand Chute can regularly be seen at Déjà Vu Martini Lounge in downtown Appleton during its live band karaoke night, donning full Elvis regalia and belting out his favorite tune, “Suspicious Minds.” While the pandemic has halted performances, Smith said he’s strived for years to be an advocate for people of all abilities and the LGBTQ+ community.
“I remember growing up at a young age and being on the autism spectrum, and dealing with that in the early 2000s when there wasn’t really any advocacy for it,” he said. “I want to make something to make people more aware that you can push boundaries and do anything you want to do.”

Ep 027 - Queen Quail is the dream-pop project of Kirstin Edwards.
Reverbant guitar riffs and chilling vocals fill the open spaces of her songs with a haunting beauty – one grown out of deep introspection, a desire to understand, and the search for inner truth. Kirstin grew up only a few hundred meters from Lake Michigan (unsurprisingly, one may find images of water throughout her music). A cellist by training, she now finds inspiration from the vibrance & intensity of Berlin, Germany, and the quieter calm of Milwaukee, Wisconsin - her two chosen homes since 2017.
