She is the Chief Culture Curator for Catera  (formerly KIS Communications LLC), a culture development and media company where she supports musicians, creatives, and politicians.  Her 22-year career includes freelance journalist, artist manager, and public relations specialist. She currently works at Catera as a brand strategist, project manager, and event producer for creatives. She also currently produces and hosts Artist Eats culture series for independent musicians and local food. She serves as a board member for #IVoted and Milwaukee Theatre Alliance. Prior to her work at Catera, she wrote for various music publications including Urbanology, Relevant, and The Source, and served as Director of Artist Support and Outreach for an arts non-profit. During the pandemic, hard rock duo Sit Kitty Sit relocated from San Francisco to the Fox Valley, built their own recording studio and promptly started recording new music. It was the first time they recorded everything outside of a full-production studio, something they’d dreamed of doing for years.

The result is Good Riddance, their first new single to be released in three years.

For more than ten years fans have loved witnessing the real-life mashup Sit Kitty Sit choreographs during its live performances and digital recordings — the dramatic, expressive stylings of Beethoven and Rachmaninoff with the lyrical vulnerability of Led Zeppelin and RUSH.

Good Riddance is the next evolution in the band’s sound.

Robs' Bio:

 

"I began teaching myself guitar at age 13 or 14. I began learning guitar parts off of rock records at about age 15. In my 20s and into my 30s I took lessons and classes at the WI Conservatory of Music in jazz guitar and theory. I had classes with John Foshager and David Hazeltine, lessons with Michael Sullivan, and an ensemble class with Don Linke. 

I attended guitar seminars at the National Guitar Workship with Mike Keneally, Jack Grassel, Matt Smith and Terry Syrek.

I played in local groups Beacon and Jonah's Vacation and in my church's worship group through the 1990s. 

I played in classic rock cover group Thick Aza Brick from 2001 to about 2010. 

I played in local progressive rock group Lyndenthal from 2014 to 2019.

 

I taught guitar lessons at Academy of Music in Menomonee Falls from 2001 to 2012, at Wondersound Music in Menomonee Falls from 2012 to 2020, and at North Shore Academy of the Arts from 2009-2015. 

 

I formed Concept of Innocence in 1998 to play my original progressive rock songs. The band ended up being a duo of myself and drummer Jim Kube and recorded one album, Songs From the Heart. The group ran its course after this album. Jim contributed to writing songs and performed drums. I wrote songs, and performed vocals, guitar, bass and programmed the synth parts.

 

Since 2010 I have been spending most of the time I have to devote to music working in my home studio recording progressive rock, blues, and ambient/electronic pieces, which I've posted on soundcloud and have released on Spotify, itunes, etc. Since 2019 I've worked exclusively on another progressive rock release, which will feature new original songs similar to Concept of Innocence but also incorporating some of the ambient electronic and maybe even the blues sounds I've recorded.

 

The name of the group whose album I released a year ago is Concept of Innocence. I am writing and recording more original progressive rock but don't yet know if I will release it under my name or a new band name."

This week we hear 4 songs from a Wisconsin band from the 1970's that drew from the fusion music of the time.  It was recorded in a garage with analog gear and probably Shure SM57 and 58's.  It was converted to digital in the early 2000's and recently, I did some audio restoration to it.

Donoma is an eclectic Rock 'n' Roll band out of Kenosha, Wi., refusing to fall under one genre

When modern rock band Donoma decided to head back in to the
studio to record their third full length album, they decided it
wasn’t enough to match the success of 2017’s “Falling Forward”.
That would be fine for many bands as that record gained them
airplay on more than 120 terrestrial radio stations and helped
them secure direct concert support for the likes of Soul Asylum,
Meat Puppets, Candlebox, Tantric, and Rusted Root along with
many top billing shows. For this album the band put three simple
rules in place. First, to lyrically examine the world around them
and to not shy away from stating where they stood. Second, to
keep production to a minimum. And finally, to make a cohesive
album that re-imagined rock and roll’s glory days.
On “American Rust”, Donoma burst through expectations. With
eight songs blazing through at thirty-four minutes, listeners are
taken on a journey through today’s America with all of its hopes
and dreams and flaws. The album opens with “Rustbelt Tragedy”,
a no holds barred tribute to the American worker and ends with
“Road Song”, which tells the story of one man’s realization that he
must fight for what he believes in. Between those staggering
bookends, Donoma tackles millennial angst with the punky
“Nobody Wants Us”, race relations on “Hands Are Up”, the young
dreamer coming to America on the lilting “Maria”, the tour-deforce rallying cry of “Common Man”, climate change on “Home”,
and finally an assault on gun violence and the N.R.A. in the
chilling “Ballad of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.”
Paddy Fineran of Music Matters says that “American Rust” is
“delivered with a steely focus on melody, moxie, and mettle with a
fair amount of magic thrown in”, and “This is what music lovers
have been waiting twenty years for, the return of great rock n’
roll.” The Wisconsin Gazette called Donoma, “a group known for
its diverse music, eccentric attitude, and outspoken activism.”
The Wisconsin State Journal pitched Donoma as, “one of the most
eclectic bands in the state.” Wisconsin’s top music paper,
Shepherd Express added, “The band has an attacking sound, the
raw energy of artists in rebellion … Donoma merges influences
ranging from punk to Pearl Jam in to a Frankenstew of menace
and compassion.”

Lap steel guitarist Sean Williamson is set to release a new single, “Thunderstruck,” under the moniker Velocihamster, following the vinyl LP release of his sophomore album, Balls to the Wall, along with singles “Sleepwalk” and “Mist” in June.

 

Reinterpreting the iconic rock anthem “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, Williamson continues to foster his own niche within the metal / hard rock genre showcasing the lap steel guitar. The composition also marks Velocihamster’s first release with vocals, featuring singers Vincent Black (Sacred, De La Luz) & Dustin Moon (Reflections of Flesh, Atrocity Addiction).

 

“Playing ‘Thunderstruck’ is a legendary rite of passage exercise for guitarists, especially in music stores,” Williamson laughs, “and adapting it for lap steel was yet another pleasant surprise. It’s rewarding to keep finding ways to bring slide guitar to new audiences & inspire using the unexpected.  Who said steel guitar players can’t be rockstars...LOL?”

 

Velocihamster’s trademark shred-style approach to lap steel is modeled after acrobatic electric guitar leads typically heard in heavy metal and hard rock genres. The project’s 2018 debut LP Wheel Of Steel garnered attention in Guitar World & Guitar Player magazines, earning it recognition as “the world’s first lap steel metal band,” and new album Balls to the Wall was recently spotlighted by MetalSucks.net in February.

As a trumpeter, Matt Antoniewicz, has been performing for over 20 years. Originally from and currently living in Milwaukee, he studied trumpet performance with an emphasis on jazz studies at UWSP. He has performed with such national acts as Kenny Rogers, The Woody Herman Orchestra, Frank Sinatra Jr., Aretha Franklin, Johnny Mathis, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Manhattan Transfer, Frankie Valli, Natalie Cole, Doc Severinsen, Dennis DeYoung, Mannheim Steamroller, Bobby Vinton, Kurt Elling, Don Rickles, Monica Mancini, Frank Stallone, Bob Newhart, Lena Prima, Slide Hampton, Bob Mintzer, James Moody, Melissa Manchester, Peter Cetera, Chester French, and several others. He also performs with local and regional groups, such as, Platinum, The North Coast Orchestra, The North Coast Brass Quintet, Velocity, La Chazz, The East Town Jazz Orchestra, and many more.
He has performed in the orchestra for the touring Broadway productions of Little Shop Of Horrors, The Color Purple, A Chorus Line, My Fair Lady, Peter Pan, All Shook Up, Legally Blonde, Dreamgirls, Young Frankenstein, White Christmas, Evita, and Hair.
As owner of the artist management company, North Coast Management, he owns and manages the bands The North Coast Orchestra, Velocity, The North Coast Brass Quintet, Platinum,  Livin The Dream, The Barbara Stephan Band, Paradise Jazz Band, Cajun Cats, Samuel McClain Jr., and event lighting company- TransFormation Lighting. North Coast Management handles acquiring and executing bookings, working with agencies and buyers, contracting, production, event planning, scheduling, travel logistics, and payroll services for the acts represented.
